Podetia 4 - 10 cm, richly branched with yellw-green, rough surface. Terminal branches bended and often looking in one direction. C. arbuscula is divided into 3 subspecies:
C. a. arbuscula: psoromic and usnic acids
C. a. mitis: rangiformic and usnic acids
C. a. squarrosa: fumarprotcetraric and usnic acids
