Peltigera aphthosa Kaiserbergtal, Tyrol, August 2011 |
Peltigera aphthosa is of the three P. species that occur on the European continent and that have the green-algae
Coccomyxa as photobiont. Additionally on the upper or lower surface in cephalodia there is a second photobiont,
Nostoc spec.. P. aphthosa differs from the very ssimilar P. leucophlebia as follows:
a) Lower side with only weak formation of veins and rare rhizines. b) Apothecia with P. aphthosa are
corticated on the lower side, whilst P. leucophlebia shows no cortex on the lower side.
Occurrence: On soil between mossses in alpine locations.Microscopy, Stereomicroscope, Microfoto |
