Habitus. Thallus ca. 4 cm, thin, upper surface dark grey, rugose, reticulately whitish ridged. Central umbo. Lower surface pale, dark brown, smooth, rarely with sparse rhizines. Chemistry: C+ red, K+ yellow, turning red, KC red, P+- yellow (gyrophoric and norstictic acids)
